English singer-songwriter Adele has cancelled all her remaining live dates and appearances for 2011 as she battles problems with her voice.
We reported a few weeks ago that Adele had cancelled her ten-city US tour due to a laryngitis infection she is battling with.

The last two and a half weeks have been quite entertaining for Nigerians who have followed the NDLEA/Baba Suwe drama. Without paying a dime to buy or rent his movies, we have enjoyed every bit of a comedy series that doesn’t look like its ending soon.
Let’s do a short recap: On Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Baba Suwe (real name Babatunde Omidina) was reported in several papers to have been arrested by the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on suspicion of possession of hard drugs believed to be Cocaine while attempting to depart Lagos for Paris on a 10pm scheduled Air France flight AF3051. He was immediately taken into custody and placed under ‘observation’ where the NDLEA said he ‘tested positive to Drug Ingestion’.
The news of Baba Suwe’s supposed ‘arrest’ spread like wild fire and even made its way to foreign online publications like BBC.com and Yahoo News. Trust social networks like Facebook and Twitter to have already made the news a trending topic. It wasn’t the first time a Nigerian actor would be detained over the suspicion of possession of hard drugs but Baba Suwe is practically known by everybody. The search for hard substances in his excrete soon became a global concern.

Banky W And Dineo To Host The Channel O Music Video Awards 2011

Organizers of the 2011 edition of the Channel O Music Video Awards have announced Nigerian R&B Singer and E-M-E boss Banky W and South African O-Access presenter Dineo Moeketsi will be hosting the awards come Friday, November 11, 2011.
The Pan-African music awards certainly made a right choice picking the duo – For Banky, it’s been a busy year even though he didn’t release any new solo projects; his grooming of his E-M-E label’s younger acts Wizkid and Skales has kept the singer quite busy. The late pop music legend Michael Jackson for the second straight year is the richest dead celebrity. He earned more money than any other dead celebrity according to US publishing and media company, Forbes.
The magazine is well-known for its lists, says Jackson is estimated to have earned $170 million over the past year. Most of that money was earned in sales of music albums and memorabilia.
Forbes also lists the late ‘King of Rock and Roll’ Elvis Presley in second place on the list of ‘Top-Earning Dead Celebrities’. Presley made $55 million from the sale of music and a hit stage production in Las Vegas by the renowned Cirque de Soleil, featuring his songs.

The fifth edition of of the Nigerian Music Video Awards (NMVA) is around the corner and organizers, Callivision Network have revealed the nominees for the 2011 edition.
R&B singers Darey and J’odie have received the highest nods. Both acts were nominated in the ‘Video Of The Year‘ and ‘Best Use Of Costumes‘ categories. Darey who released his ‘Double Dare‘ album this year was also nominated in ‘Best Afro Pop Video‘, ‘Best R&B Video categories while the former West African Idol singer received two extra nods in the ‘Best Indigenous Concept‘ and ‘Best High Life Video‘ categories.

The search for Nigeria’s most desirable man is on again. Now in its third edition, organisers recently revealed the contestants for this year’s edition of Mr. Nigeria.
A total of 18 contestants consisting of bankers, businessmen, doctors, accountants, entertainers, students and sportsmen from around the country have arrived at Bellisimo Hotels which serves as a camp.
While in camp, the contestants will compete in a whole week’s series of tests which will cover strengths in character, determination and masculinity. They will be judged on strength of character, stamina and determination to succeed as much as physical appearance, style and presentation.

Chris Brown Leads Soul Train Awards 2011 Nominations

The annual Soul Train Music Awards has unveiled the nomination list for the 2011 edition and pop singer Chris Brown leads the list with a total of five nods.

DSTV‘s South African-based urban music station Channel O has revealed a new set of Video Jockeys who be we will be seeing on our screens soon.
The jockey’s selection was ‘based on their talent in their respective countries and also their love for music’.
Representing Nigeria is the eccentric Derenle Edun who was formerly a VJ at Soundcity. Others are J.Town form Ghana, Flavia Tumusiime from Uganda Jokate Mwegelo from Tanzania, Joey  Muthengi from Kenya and Maya Wegerif from South Africa.

The 2011 edition of The Headies has come and gone but there’s so much happenstances that make It difficult to forget the October 22 event in a hurry.
Apart from Mo’Hits‘ singer Dr. SID’s performance flop and Rita Dominic’s obvious lackluster performance as host, a rumble between two hitherto relatively unknown ladies also went down.
Who you might ask? Well, Nigerian Entertainment Today has gathered that R&B newbie Dencia (real name Reprudencia Sonkey) and a certain Liz Garvy got into a ‘cat fight’ just outside the Expo Hall at the Eko Hotels and Suites.
Eye witnesses say Liz Garvy attacked Dencia as she made her way to restroom, yanking her hair which she practically pulled off.
Sources suggest the fight between Dencia and Miss Garvy is the outcome of a relationship gone bad. Dencia allegedly accused her former friend of stealing her property worth $20,000 from her house in Woodland Hills, California back in 2010. Liz, we’re told, had reportedly squatted in Dencia’s place to recover from a liposuction surgery.

Don Jazzy Speaks On Kelly Hansome Controversy – ‘We Didn’t Arrest Him’

The media has been awash with report of how officers of the Nigeria Police arrested pop singer Kelly Hansome (real name Kelechi Obinna Orji) on Monday, October 24, 2011 and detained him at the Garki Police Command Headquarters, Abuja.
The supposed ‘arrest’, we’re told, was made in connection with his ‘admitted willful infringement’ of the intellectual property rights (copyright) of Mo’Hits Records Limited.
Sources suggest that it was the Mo’Hits camp that filed a complaint against Hansome which led to the arrest.
Kelly Hansome was reportedly made to sign an undertaking promising to ‘refrain from further use of Mo’Hits Records Limited’s material, released or unreleased, and offered profuse apologies to Mo’Hits Records Limited’. It was also said that the artiste was placed on a bail of N800,000.
But a few hours later, Hansome’s management responded with an official statement saying that their artiste, Kelly Hansome wasn’t arrested but only asked to appear at the station to ‘sign documents stating he will take down the song from the internet; this was after it was proven that Mo-Hits have the legal rights to the said song’.

Rumor has it, that as of Yesterday October 24 2011, Kelechi Orji aka Kelly Hansome was arrested concerning the copyright of Tuface’s featuring D’banj “FEELIN GOOD” Freestyle Remix. Sources confirm that was not true, KH was not arrested but only simple asked to appear at the local police station. Kelly Hansome’s lawyer was allegedly supposed to meet up with member of Mo-Hits to resolve the issue of Copyright, but instead the issue ended up at the police station.

Soulja Boy Arrested On Drug, Gun Charges

The 21-year-old rapper was charged with marijuana and gun possession in Georgia on Tuesday, MTV News confirms.

It was supposed to be a day of celebration for Soulja Boy, but whatever plans he had have been curtailed. On Tuesday morning (October 18), the same day the rapper's "Soulja Boy: The Movie" DVD documentary hit stores, the 21-year-old was arrested in Georgia after a routine traffic stop and hit with multiple drug charges.
MTV News has learned that the Atlanta MC has been charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Temple Police Department's public information officer, Dana Rampy, confirmed to MTV News that Soulja Boy (born De'Andre Cortez Way) and four other individuals were arrested early Tuesday around 2:30 a.m. ET while driving west on I-20 in a black Cadillac Escalade.

There are few albums more highly anticipated than Drake's upcoming Take Care, but fans aren't the only ones eagerly awaiting a listen. Drizzy's Young Money boss Lil Wayne has yet to hear the November 15 LP in its entirety, but he's impressed with what he has heard so far.

After suffering two in-flight seizures last week, US rapper Rick Ross was released from the hospital on Sunday, October 15.
He took to friend, DJ Khaled’s luxury bus and travelled down to Memphis where he was scheduled to perform at a concert alongside rapper Yo Gotti two days earlier.
