Say Hello To Channel O’s New VJs!

DSTV‘s South African-based urban music station Channel O has revealed a new set of Video Jockeys who be we will be seeing on our screens soon.
The jockey’s selection was ‘based on their talent in their respective countries and also their love for music’.
Representing Nigeria is the eccentric Derenle Edun who was formerly a VJ at Soundcity. Others are J.Town form Ghana, Flavia Tumusiime from Uganda Jokate Mwegelo from Tanzania, Joey  Muthengi from Kenya and Maya Wegerif from South Africa.
I’m glad I now have the opportunity to show the rest of Africa how talented Nigerians are’, Denrele told our corespondent Today at a recent gig in Lagos.

‘Each one of these VJs is awesome in their own right. Not only do they have a fundamental love for their country and music from their countries too, they also have a love for what is happening around them and can see African Urban music in the global space which is exactly what Channel O Africa is about. They are passionate, hardworking individuals and as a team, they will take Channel O Africa to new levels’, Channel O Africa Manager, Leslie ‘Lee’ Kasumba says.
According to the station’s management, the VJs will be going behind-the-scenes and giving viewers ‘a wider picture of what goes on in the music and entertainment world that is rapidly growing in Africa as well as internationally’.
